Overview

This event design draws on the rich natural and architectural heritage of Ely, creating a visual system that feels both site-specific and symbolically resonant. The logo, based on a ceramic tile from Ely Cathedral, incorporates a coarse fish within a vesica piscis—an ancient Christian symbol, derived from a fish—cleverly uniting the ecological concerns of fisheries management with the spiritual heritage of the conference setting. A palette of ‘Barnack Stone’ and ‘Deepest Ouse’ draws directly from the region’s geology and waterways, grounding the identity in the surrounding landscape. Typography is precise yet characterful, supporting clarity while quietly referencing traditional forms. The delegate pack, presentation guidelines, and supporting materials work in concert to establish a cohesive and dignified presence, foregrounding place, purpose, and ecological responsibility.
